Our Right to Child Care Project and resulting report, High Stakes: The Impacts of Child Care on the Human Rights of Women and Children, are thoroughly grounded in the real-life experiences of women who have struggled to access adequate child care. We spoke to 15 diverse women in BC who shared personal stories about how the current child care system has impacted their kids’ and their own safety, well-being, and rights. These stories were collected in the form of affidavits that may form the basis for future litigation and that will help us determine the BC government’s obligations with respect to child care under constitutional, human rights, or international law.
