Join West Coast LEAF staff and Board for the launch of our report on the child welfare system, Pathways in a Forest: Indigenous guidance on prevention-based child welfare.
The evening will start with a brief business meeting and the election of new board members, followed by the report launch and a panel discussion. The evening will close with a reception featuring light refreshments, a cash bar, and a chance to connect with West Coast LEAF staff, leadership, and our community of supporters.

What: West Coast LEAF AGM
When: Tuesday, September 24, 2019, 5:30-7:30 p.m.
Where: The Law Courts Inn (5th floor – 800 Smithe Street, BC Supreme Court Building)
Our child protection report explores steps that are necessary to transform and re-envision the child welfare system from one rooted in colonial interventionist practices to one that can effectively support Indigenous families and communities to thrive.
The project has been a collaboration between West Coast LEAF and Indigenous families and Elders from Tillicum Lelum Aboriginal Friendship Centre, Lii Michif Otipemisiwak Children and Family Services, and Fraser Region Aboriginal Friendship Centre Association. We will host advisers from this project for a panel discussion to launch the report and talk about its findings and recommendations. We are grateful to the Law Foundation of British Columbia and Health Sciences Association for their generous support of this project.

This event is free of charge. To help us plan adequate refreshments, voting cards, and seating, we request that you register online. The Law Courts Inn is accessible, but you can also let us know of any accessibility requirements you may have when you register.
While only current West Coast LEAF members are eligible to vote at the AGM, it’s a great opportunity to learn more about our work to improve justice and to advance gender equality in BC. You will also be able to sign up for membership at the event (and be eligible to vote next year).
