We’ll also include more information about how to check in once you’ve logged into the meeting. Online check-in will begin at 5 p.m. and we encourage you to log in promptly so we can start the meeting on time.
Do you have any accessibility requests/needs? If so, you can indicate your needs along with your registration information. Please let us know your needs as soon as possible; we may not be able to fulfill all requests, but we will do our best. ASL interpretation for the event is confirmed.
While only current West Coast LEAF members are eligible to vote at the AGM, attending is a great opportunity to learn more about our work to advance gender equality in BC and we welcome and encourage non-members to attend.
More about the program
Over the past year, West Coast LEAF has been grateful to learn from our community – including volunteers, workshop participants, fellow legal educators, teachers, youth workers, and former staff – about how to better facilitate learning about the law in a way that supports movements for social justice rather than undermining them. In this session, we will be reporting back on some of the wise practices shared through our Re-Envisioning PLEI project and our next steps in embedding them into our work. We will be inviting participants to share their own insights in order to continue our process of mutual learning. (Participation is voluntary; you will not be put on the spot to share!) This project was generously funded by the Law Foundation of British Columbia.
Get excited for the report launch!
AGM attendees will get a sneak peek at our Re-Envisioning Public Legal Education and Information (PLEI) report, which will be released the following morning. The report contains 36 pages of wise and ethical practices offered by our community that will guide West Coast LEAF as we plan our PLEI work for the coming years. We hope the report will be of use to other PLEI practitioners, teachers, lawyers, youth workers, anti-violence workers, and others who aim to share information about the law in a learner-centred, accountable, and justice-seeking way.
Questions about the AGM or the status of your membership?
Current members in good standing as of September 6, 2021 have voting privileges. Unsure if you’re a member? Email Sharon to confirm your membership status.
If you’re not yet a member, we invite you to consider becoming one. It won’t qualify you for voting privileges this year but by becoming a member you join a community fighting for gender justice and equality. A donation of any amount qualifies you to opt in to membership — and then next year you too will have voting privileges!
