Online Rights Workshop

October 13, 2016 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

Burnaby Public Library, in partnership with West Coast LEAF, presents an information session on criminal issues around personal safety that may arise while using the internet.  Laws on criminal harassment, child pornography and non-consensual distribution of intimate images will be discussed.  The workshop’s aim is to provide a public education opportunity around these issues and encourage an online culture that is safe, accessible, and positive for everyone who uses it. The session is based on our #CyberMisogyny project and is an adaptation of our TrendShift youth workshop for a general audience.

This program will be of interest to adults on social media, employees, parents and students.  The speaker, Alana Prochuk, is West Coast LEAF’s Manager of Public Legal Education. Registration is required for this FREE program. Please register online or by phoning the Bob Prittie Metrotown Branch at 604-436-5400.
