As a member of the Coalition on Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls, West Coast LEAF contributed to a submission to Canada’s federal government on the design of the national inquiry process. Among many other recommendations, the Coalition urged the government to ensure that Indigenous women lead the inquiry; to maintain consultation and transparency with impacted groups; to address the social, economic, and political marginalization of Indigenous women; and to provide the time and supports needed for people to share their stories.
